July 24, 1969 – It’s
strange the way people act towards each other. As I said yesterday I wasn’t
going to speak to Jeanette but when she poured cold water on the hot
frying pan. It really peeved me so I shouted at her.
Then this afternoon I
bought 6 do-nuts with my own money. You’d think she’d have enough pride to
either refuse it or apologize. but no, she took it and didn’t even say thank-you
and I know I’d never take one from her if she’d give up 27 cents of her own
money (she’d never do it, though).
I think people,
especially girls, are very queer. As you know I’ve been hung-up on Bobby
Sherman but suddenly I took a liking (really a loving to David Selby. He plays Quentin
Collins on “Dark Shadows’. The thing is I’m in love with Quentin not David
(when I say I’m in love I don’t mean in love like the real thing but well “hung-up”!) I don’t see how all the 16 Magazines can say
Quentin is evil and scary because I don’t think he is at all! (Perhaps “love is
blind” is true?!)
Also I finished Anne
Frank and it was a marvelous book. It flabbergasted me how much she thought and
wrote like me! Especially her writing.
It’s almost identical to mine. And all of her hobbies and interests are the
same as mine. But then, too, she is a Gemini and so am I; maybe all us Geminis
have the same brains!!!
Note: I am amused at
my comments on Anne Frank’s diary but even today I will stand by my opinion
that all teenage girls’ diaries sound very similar in tone, angst and familial
disputes! And of course, extremely self-centred but isn’t that what a diary is
for, to explore one’s inner mind? Jeanette and I are as close as 2 sisters can be today; we just had a few teen years where we were essentially antagonists - being less than a year apart it makes sense!
