Summer of 1969

I turned 16 in June so now it was legal to work.  You can see how seriously I took it by this entry:
July 9, 1969     Yesterday I applied for a job at Niakwa Motor Hotel.  The man said he’d phone me but he hasn’t.  I guess I don’t get the job.  I took some colour pictures at the bridge today.  Jeanette jumped off it three times.  I was going to but a hunk of the bottom fell off.  I decided I better not.  I think it was a pretty good suggestion on my part.
I think it may have been the only job I applied for that summer, but we’ll see.  Meanwhile you can see that I am still pretty much in play mode, enjoying being outside and having fun on my bike with my sister and middle brother.  And all this time I was thinking I was burdened by babysitting and more babysitting!
I am beginning to think this diary is going to make a liar out of me.  Oh the agony of it all. (now does that sound like the teenager in you and I?)
