Reading Books

While working at Burns Dad would sometimes take us to the factory where we were allowed to use the special long distance phone to call our friends in other provinces.  It didn’t cost Burns anything extra so it was a nice perk he had as Plant Superintendent.  In Burlington my 2 friends were Susan Rolston and Heidi Harris – Heidi and I had a fight through the mail while I was living in Montreal – I think she called me a name which I took exception to and it went downhill from there.  Susan and I lost touch after I went to Denmark in 1971.
Oct 5, 1969  This morning I went to my dad’s factory and phoned Sue Rolston. We had a real nice chat. Everything’s fine there, our house is ‘bout the same. I told her to tell Heidi I’m sorry that I reckon I was hot tempered and the fight might have been my fault. I doubt it was but she sure wouldn’t of flown off the handle if I hadn’t of said something.  Well, we’ll see what comes of it! After that last letter I think nothing will make her bury the hatchet.
Well I’ve done all my homework and I finished reading “Ethan Frome”.  It was a fair book and a little sad. About 2 weeks ago I watched “So Big”.  It was really good and now it’s my second favorite movie.  I read the book too. That was good, too.  It makes you kind of wonder just how your children will turn out.  Well hope for the best and work for it, too.
Four years ago, this day, my cat Meese, died.  God bless him and the saints preserve him.  Amen.
