Actually I am not pulling out all
the stops, I am pulling out what hair I have left! July has 31 days and I am only on Day 15 on
the “thinking theme” and am getting desperate.
What can one continue to say about thinking without sounding pedantic
and what the heck kind of expert am I in thinking? Okay, so I think a lot. Indeed as I noted earlier sometimes I have
wanted to unscrew my head so I could take a break from too much thinking!
Taking a step back and recalling
why I decided on this theme makes me determined to continue in the hope that I
may stimulate some people to truly take a good hard look at their political
beliefs. That’s right. I was politically motivated. Mea
culpa. Having said that let me
clarify. I am not trying to turn anyone
into a socialist. I am hoping to make
people see what the world is like today and asking them to think about what
they can do to make it a civilized and humane world.
We start with baby steps. We look into what we can do as a parent, spouse
and child. Make our home life as loving
and empathic as possible. Provide the
necessary thinking tools for your family to help make them into upstanding,
principled citizens. Value your family’s
input and opinions.
Next stretch the same empathy to
your friends. And to your
colleagues. Smile a lot. It is amazing how much a smile can change
another person’s day, even for a little while.
Don’t take your anxieties to work and don’t take them out on
others. Not your nearest and dearest and
not your frenemy or colleague. Be
civilized. Be kind.
You’ve now taken first steps in
making a better world for yourself, your family, friends and colleagues. Amazing.
Tomorrow we tackle the neighbourhood.
Today, we smile.
