The Episode Friday Jan 14 2011

Friday Jan 15/11 AMERICAN RECAP

I’m in Miami, awaiting the last leg of our journey. We had quite a terrible experience in Dallas. It was a full plane, a lovely man from Kansas agreed to trade seats with Wenda so the 3 of us could sit together. As we were waiting for some German fellow (who thought it was a priority to get his latte prior to jaunting to our connection from Seattle and consequently could not load his multiple “carry ons” in the overhead bins) was holding up the remaining onbaorders, Wenda noticed on her itinerary that she was supposed to be on a later flight – we were leaving at 5:45 a.m. Dallas time, her ticket said 7:20 a.m. We held hands and prayed that it wouldn’t be an issue. No such luck. The Kansasian got booted from the seat that was Wenda’s. Back and forth the stewards ran but eventually we got found out. A big black fellow came down the aisle and said “miz Allan, you got to get off ma’am.” He was not sympathetic . His priority was to get her off and get the plane off the ground. Poor Wenda was almost in tears since she was not a world traveller like Barb and I (tee hee). But they would not allow Barb to switch with Wenda. Note: We now call this The Episode

So here I am sitting, while Barb is sprawled on the floor by the window, awaiting Wenda’s flight in another hour. Fortunately we do not depart for Quito until 2:55 p.m. and yes, we have confirmed she is both on the Dallas flight and will be rightfully on the next leg with us.

Barb says “Things happen for a reason” and I secretly think “well, yes they do and the reason is NO DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHECKING”. With Wenda and I having experienced our fubars, we can only hope that the third one (which should happen to Barb in all fairness) will not be the rude surprise of finding out that the house is only a figment of her mind!

Stay tuned for the final instalment of our travel arrangements! (or should I see de-rangements)
